My daughter is the stage manager. I don't know exactly what she does, but I've been told that she's darn good at it.

Stage Managers are the MOST important people behind the scenes. Without them, people would miss cues, forget to set props and have no idea when to run the sound effects or the lights. Stage Managers are awesome, especially good ones!
I like your explanation better than my "she walks around with a stopwatch, flashlight an annoyed look on her face." :-)
